VERI*FACTU 2026 guide for phone shops
What is VERI*FACTU and why it matters
VERI*FACTU is the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) system that requires invoices issued by software to be truthful, intact, traceable and tamper-proof. Every invoice is written to a digitally signed chain and carries a QR code that the tax office — or your customer — can use to verify it.
Its goal is to end dual-use software and tax fraud: once issued, an invoice cannot be changed or deleted without leaving a trace.
Who must comply, and from when?
It applies to self-employed people and companies that invoice with software in Spain. If you run a phone shop and issue tickets or invoices from a POS, VERI*FACTU affects you directly.
The AEAT sets the go-live dates, so the smart move is to have your software ready in advance and avoid a last-minute scramble.
What a compliant invoice must include
- Sequential numbering with no gaps, from 00001.
- A fingerprint or hash chaining each record to the previous one.
- An electronic signature of the record.
- The AEAT verification QR code.
- Issuer and customer tax details where applicable.
The software must generate all of this automatically — it is not something you can fake by hand on a spreadsheet.
